When a workforce is in harmony, great strides can be made with ease. When the opposite situation exists, and people and goals are out of sync, enormous resources are required for a company to produce results, and the risk of failure increases.

Since 1979, HeaneyCougar has worked on the human side of the performance equation, assisting companies in transforming themselves to better meet the needs of customers, suppliers and employees. We have learned that the greatest block to productivity is fear and the defensive behaviors it spawns: fear of failure, fear of looking stupid, fear of not being good enough, fear that someone else will outperform us, fear of loss.

Fearful behavior seldom supports positive outcomes. Productivity and money are lost when people shift their attention from performing their jobs to protecting their positions.

Fear in the workplace is often the result of unrealistic self-expectations and a lack of information necessary to understand a situation. Our management counseling and

HeaneyCougar has identified a model for understanding and managing change that is based on the laws of nature. An analogy might be the growth of a seed – an idea – that sprouts, then buds, becomes fruit, and finally folds into compost to fertilize new growth. Similarly, good business ideas become plans that transform into a set of actions, blossom into products and services, then become the foundation for a business's future growth.
