Jim Heaney is a principal and founder of HeaneyCougar, a management consulting firm in Bethesda, Md., that provides counsel and training for companies going through change. Jim has been dealing effectively with change for more than 30 years. Jim’s strong business perspective was developed from his early experiences as a line manager. He has deepened his knowledge through counseling business owners in a variety of fields for the past 25 years. Jim helps clients understand how to create non-threatening and productive work environments through nurturing responsible partnerships between people who work together.

Jim earned an MBA at the University of Michigan and is a former executive for Ford Motor Company and Renault USA. He has published several articles and regularly leads seminars and delivers keynote addresses on how to improve employee and management performance. His specialty is transitions in family owned businesses. Participants in his workshops consistently report that Jim has the ability to present complex information in a readily digestible form through telling stories and relating personal anecdotes.

Jim is married and has a daughter in middle school who keeps him honest about implementing change. He has a lifelong interest in developing the human potential and has traveled many roads in his own search for the greater meaning and purpose of life. Jim believes that the answers to modern business problems and everyday life challenges can often be found by observing the way nature works.
